“In order to be a leader, a man must have followers. And to have followers, a man must have their confidence. Hence, the supreme quality of a leader is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, on a football field, in an army, or in an office. If a man’s associates find him guilty of phoniness, if they find that he lacks forthright integrity, he will fail. His teachings and actions must square with each other. The first great need, therefore, is integrity and high purpose.”—Dwight D. Eisenhower
How many there are today who try to lead, but lack this personal integrity. Are you a leader in the campus fellowship, among the youths, in your student society or you occupy leadership position elsewhere? You could even be an aspiring leader, check your life. “The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men
must be just, ruling in the fear of God” II Samuel 23:3
Are you honest in your dealings with the people under your leadership? Do you lead in the fear of God at all times? Are your hands clean in your interactions with the opposite gender that are under your leadership? What about money and other resources that have been entrusted into your hands? You are not fit to be a leader if you cannot live a life that is above reproach in all of these matters.
Others may take advantage of their leadership position and mess up with people and things under their leadership, you must be a different kind of leader. Let your life resonate integrity and pureness of character. That is when your leadership can bring the needed transformation to our world and glorify God.
