Two friends met each other on the street; one looked forlorn, almost on the verge of tears. His friend asked, “What has the world done to you, my old friend?” The sad fellow said, “Let me tell you: three weeks ago, my uncle died and left me forty thousand dollars.” “That’s a lot of money,” the friend said. “But you see, two weeks ago, a cousin I never even knew died, and left me eighty-five thousand dollars, free and clear.” Again, the friend said, “Sounds to me that you’ve been very blessed.” “You don’t understand!” said the sad fellow as he interrupted. “Last week, my great-aunt passed away. I inherited almost a quarter of a million dollars from her.” Now the man’s friend was really confused. “Then, why do you look so glum?” “This week—nothing!”
Your friends call you a blessed man apparently because of what you have. Some call you a lucky guy because of the privileges that surround you, but God’s
definition of a blessed man is not all of that. The description of a blessed man by God is this, “…Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.” Roman 4:7-8.
The moment the first man and woman fell to Satan’s deception, the whole human race fell short of God’s glory at once. We must return to God individually to receive His offer of forgiveness. It is that forgiveness that actually makes one a blessed man. No matter how powerful you are in terms of background or connection, it is only when your iniquities are forgiven and your sins covered in the ocean of Christ’s blood that you can claim to be truly blessed.
This miracle of forgiveness can happen to you if you come to God, confess and forsake your sins so you can be truly blessed.
