One day a farmer grabbed his shot gun to shoot at a flock of pesky crows. Unfortunately, he didn’t see his sociable parrot that had joined the crows. After firing a few shots, he walked over to the fallen birds and was surprised to find his parrot badly ruffled with a broken wing. When the farmer’s children saw the injured bird, they asked, “Dad, what happened?” The farmer simply replied, “Bad company.”
Scripture warns “Be not deceived, evil communication corrupts good manners.” I Cor 15:33. Regardless of the age or spiritual strength, over time, unwise choices in friendship or any other relationship in life will negatively affect a man’s destiny. There are people who should have turned out great in life, but their glorious destinies were truncated for being in a wrong company.
Satan is an unrelenting foe. His mission is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). When he
tries without success to hunt a man down, he creates a web of wrong association or bad company around him just to get such a glorious destiny entangled. May Satan not succeed over your life in Jesus’ name!
Great potentials are often the target of the Devil. He does not waste his time over people that do not matter. He hunts for the precious lives so as to waste their destinies. Do you have a dream of a great future? Do you have a hope of a better tomorrow despite your present struggles? Then, avoid bad company, run away from people whose goal is to distract you. Bad company has not profited anyone. Rather, it has destroyed many. God’s command to you right now is this, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.” II Cor 6: 17.
