MORE THAN A NEW MINDSET

God’s word declares “…Behold, I make all things new.” Revelation 21:5. It’s a New Year and everyone craves for something new.  In the nature of God also, He delights in doing new things, thus, He declared “Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing;…” Isaiah 43:18-19. The mind is powerful. If we expect things to turn around in the New Year as God has promised it must begin with a completely new mindset. We must align our mind with God’s promises and forget the old.

Having a new mindset is a good way to start the year, but that’s not enough, we must actually possess a new heart. We may have a new mindset, but when the heart is not new nothing will be different in the New Year. The heart is the real problem of man. “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:5.

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,Mark 7:21. My dear, you can’t continue the New Year with the old way of life and hope to get the best out of the year. That is why you need to pause and examine your heart. You need to allow your heart to be penetrated by the light and grace of Jesus Christ.

There is nothing God cannot do, but He will not promise what He will not do. God said A new heart also will I give you,…” Ezekiel 36:26. The old heart which is the engine room of sin will not do you any good, otherwise the New Year will just be like the old. Now that God has promised to give you a new heart make a wise choice. When God promises He fulfils. First of all, Jesus is standing at the door of your heart, allow Him in (Revelation 3:20), after that let him give you a new heart through the power of His blood.
