He couldn’t believe the reception he got when he finally returned home. At first, he thought it was someone else, as no one would be excited to see him, but as he got closer, he realized it was his father yelling, “My son! My son! You are finally home!” His father threw his arms around him and kissed him profusely. Apparently, he has been yearning for his son since he left.
Dear friend, God yearns for you! He is waiting for you to return. “Is Ephraim my dear son? Is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore, my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the Lord.” (Jeremiah 31: 20). You are dear to God, a pleasant child indeed! Separation came only because He spoke against your sinful life. By nature, God is “…of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity…” (Habakkuk 1:13).
The evil that men do is not a trivial thing before the face of the Lord. He has appointed a day in which He will judge the world (Acts 17: 31). Even though His judgement is certain, yet
He loves you still. Ever since He spoke about your sin, He does earnestly remember and yearns for you, because He is not willing that any should perish, but that everyone should repent (II Peter 3:9). His heart is troubled for you as long as you stay away from His love, affection and care.
You do not need to think of how deep you have gone in your sin or how far away you are to deserve His love. If you come, He says: “I will surely have mercy upon him.” What an assurance of His readiness to receive you! The love of the Heavenly Father (God) towards you is unimaginable, deep, great and incomprehensible. He said “… I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore, with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” (Jeremiah 31: 3).
Put an end to His long waiting to receive you and respond to His love NOW! If you delay till a convenient time, the Father may not be there to receive you. This opportunity will not be there forever. “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found. Call upon him while he is near.” Isaiah 55:6
