It takes more than a casual knowledge of a course to pass an exam as a student. Jesus asked His disciples, “whom do men say that I the Son of man am?” Sadly, the responses He got revealed the shallow knowledge they had of Him. They myopically perceived Him from different lens but missed out on His true essence. “And they said, some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets (Matt 16:13-19).”
What a mistaken identity! Nothing grieves the heart of Christ more than having people calling upon Him as we have on our campuses today and yet He is a total stranger to them. Some only know Him as the One they can pray to during exams, yes, He is. To some people, He is the healer who has the power to take away all their sicknesses and do miracles.
It is possible to have Jesus do
all these in your life and yet you do not know Him at all.
In reality, Jesus is the Saviour of the World. He came to save us from the power of sin. Knowing Him entails knowing His saving power. He is the way to God. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6
A casual knowledge of Christ will change nothing about your eternal destiny. Going to church and paying your tithes and offering regularly, or perhaps doing service for God does not equate your knowledge of Him. It takes a definite encounter to make that happen.
I pray for you today “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him:” I pray that you become a partaker of the life that His death and resurrection has brought. Amen!!!
