Tom Brady, quarterback who led the New England Patriots to victory in three Super Bowls, told a news magazine, “Why do I have three Super Bowl rings and still think there’s something greater out there for me? Many people ask the same question too, even after reaching the peak of their goals and dreams in life. Do you know it is possible to have all your desires met and yet life has no meaning?
I remember in my one-room apartment as a young man many years ago, I had no idea of what I will do with my life other than to build a good career and have a happy home. I knew there should be more to life, but I was blank about what it was for me. Everything changed when I met Christ and I got to know exactly what I needed to do with my life.
Do you know what exactly you ought to do with your life? The question is not whether you have a well-paying job, a good home with lovely wife/husband and children. It is way far beyond whether you have found yourself living in your dream country or not. It is whether you are just existing or you are actually living. You are existing because you are alive. But if you are alive without knowing why, you are a liability to your generation. Before the conversion of Saul to the Paul we read about today, he thought he was actually living not knowing he was only existing. He was a learned and accomplished lawyer. He had a background anyone would be proud about, yet his being alive meant nothing good to God and the kingdom.
Paul finally met Christ and said in Gal 1:13-15 13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: 14 And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace,
The rest that we read about the life of Paul was that he became a foremost Apostle, he wrote about half of the New Testament, he embarked on at least three missionary journeys, he planted churches in major continents of the world and raised many co-labourers in the gospel. His turning point came all because he made life-changing decisions. He encountered Christ and what exactly he needed to do with his life became crystal clear.
