I came across a short expression written and placed on a wall sometimes ago and it reads “If others live like you live, shall we have revival?” The statement points clearly to the necessity of personal revival before anything else. We cannot have revival in any community or land without individuals first experiencing revival. In Psalm 63:1 David cried “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;”

In a dry and thirsty land, where no water is, there is nothing else to cry for other than showers from heaven. It is not time to call others to revival. First is to cry for personal revival like David did. When this happens, God will not lack vessels and instruments through which to send revival into the darkest places of the earth.

When must you cry for personal revival like you have never done before? Gauge the level of your hunger and thirst for God. You see, something is wrong when your hunger for natural food and thirst for water lingers beyond normal. That is the way it is spiritually too. When you perpetually dwell in a dry and thirsty land where no water is. When you no longer seek passionately after God. When intimacy and fellowship with God becomes empty, that is the time to cry for personal healing and revival from God, otherwise you will remain permanently in the congregation of the dead.

Sometimes, your spiritual sensitivity may even degenerate to the point that sin creeps in. In Hosea 7:8-9 God said “Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned. Strangers have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not: yea, gray hairs are here and there upon him, yet he knoweth not.” When we get to such a state, what we need is repentance from sin and a cry for personal revival. Do you pray to see the life of God flow through you to the men in your generation? Do you want to be a major force for revival at this end time? Do you desire that God sends His light to the darkest places of this earth? The starting point is to cry to God for revival in your own personal life.  That is how to beget a mighty revival.
