John Currier was found guilty of murder in 1949 and sentenced to life imprisonment. In 1968, Currier’s sentence was terminated, and a letter bearing the good news was sent to him. But John never saw the letter, nor was he told anything about it. Ten years went by with Currier still bearing the weight of the sentence. Then, a state parole officer learned about Currier’s plight, found him, and told him that his sentence had been terminated. He was a free man. But that was after he had spent additional years in suffering.
Countless people are dying under the guilt of sin today because they have no one to tell them that the wages of their sin have been paid in Christ Jesus. Many have gone to eternity unprepared because those who have been sent to tell them about the way of salvation have considered other things more important than the never dying soul of men. We would be a big disappointment in the kingdom if what really matters to God means nothing to us.
God will hold us accountable for the negligence we have demonstrated concerning those who have perished in their sin under our watch. God is “…not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” II Pet 3:9. I Tim 2:3-4 says “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” So, nothing is more important to God than the salvation of humanity. That is the first on His priority list. That is the most important message anyone can bear, and it requires urgency before it is too late. Do you then think you will be exonerated by God if those who ought to hear about the good news of freedom from sin perish and go to hell?
If you are reading this and you are not yet saved, understand that what matters to God is not your academic achievements. If you have money and you have not reconciled with God, you will still go to hell. The salvation of your soul is a priority to God, and no one else can save you but Christ. God is not willing that you perish, but if you are bent in your sin, God will not force you against your will. However, you will not escape the consequence of rejecting Christ. REPENT NOW!
