THOUGHTS ARE POWERFUL!
The story was told of a man on a journey who suddenly found himself at paradise. He sat down under the ‘desire tree’ (a kind of tree in paradise that gets your desires immediately fulfilled. When you sit under it, all you need to do is to think about it). He thought: “I am hungry, so it would be nice to have a bite right now.” Just before the thought flipped past his mind, a table dressed with different dishes appeared right before him.
Wow! – The man was surprised, – “but it can’t be!” He thought so, and the table with dishes disappeared immediately. “It would be nice to get it back” – the dishes appeared again. The man ate plenty of the meals – he had never eaten such tasty food before. After satisfying his appetite, he thought: “it would be nice to drink something” – and a perfect wine appeared immediately, because there are no restrictions in the paradise. Lying in the shadow of the tree, and drinking wine, he started wondering: “how could these miracles just happen?” “It just can’t be that everything would be so good – probably some ghosts played a joke on me.” Suddenly the ghosts appeared. They were terrible and looked like he imagined them. The man became scared and thought:
“now they will kill me!” And they killed him.
My friend, thoughts are powerful! Everyone lives in the world he or she deserves. If your heart is filled with negative thoughts about yourself, people and everything around you; the repercussion may be more than you can bear. When negative thoughts are allowed to grow, they cannot but give birth to questionable actions, and sooner or later, regrets will follow.
When you notice evil thoughts filtering through your heart and you do nothing about it, very soon, it will overpower you and what will follow may be suicidal. When you notice any root of bitterness springing up in your heart against your fellow human being, very soon, your heart will become a habitation for suspicion and hatred to thrive. That is why the Bible is so firm on what we should do with our hearts. It says: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” Proverbs 4:23. If you control your thoughts, life awaits you, but if you leave it to wander, your thoughts may ruin you.
