CITY WITHOUT KING (Part 3)
“And the anger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.” Judges 2:14
In this third and last part of this series, I will like to draw your attention to the consequences of living in a lawless and perverse society. In the book of Judges, the Bible says “In those days there was no king in Israel, but every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Sadly, the book ended with the same trembling tone “In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Judges 21:25
When you see a group of people who have chosen to do that which is right in their own eyes; those who have silenced the voice of reasoning because ‘there is no king’; what you find in such society is nothing
but divine punishment. At that time, when every Israelite choose to do what seemed right in their own eyes, one of the consequences was that whenever they planted their crops, the Midianites, the Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country and looted them. They camped on the land and ruined the crops all the way to Gaza and did not spare a living thing for Israel, neither sheep nor cattle nor donkeys. Judges 6:3-4
Except this generation repents, the enemy will continue to overrun this land. No wonder there is no peace anywhere in our land. If you are into any form of evil and sinful lifestyle, do not seek for peace, because the Bible says “There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.” The only way to turn away the anger of God from this land and find lasting deliverance from the hands of the enemy is to embrace Jesus the Prince of peace and begin to do that which pleases Him
