Part 4: Holy Spirit and His mighty works
“God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?” Hebrews 2:4. This single edition dedicated to the mighty acts and workings of the Holy Spirit is only a preamble and a glimpse into what the Holy Spirit can do through yielded vessels that choose to allow themselves to be used of Him.
Starting with the early Apostles, Peter got the Holy Ghost and his first sermon swept about 3,000 souls into the Kingdom at a goal (Acts 2:41-47). Little or no success in world evangelization would be recorded without the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. In the case of Peter, before the power, it took the intervention of Jesus to heal his mother in-law of a fever. But the shadow of the same Peter was sufficient to heal people with infirmities and sicknesses after he got the Holy Ghost (Acts 5:15).
God raised over 40 authors across centuries and inspired them to write the Holy Bible. The significant figure behind their writings was the Holy Ghost “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” II Peter 1:21. They were able to pen down the mind of God through the influence of the Holy Ghost, because no man knows what is in the mind of God except the Holy Spirit. If that Holy Spirit could work through a man like Paul to author 14 inspired epistles. He can do more with us if we surrender to Him.
The power and influence of the Holy Spirit is too many to mention here (Read John 16:7-15). For a clear distinction to be set between false religion and the true worship of God today like the time of Elijah – fire is the answer, and the Holy Ghost is the baptizer “…: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:” Mathew 3:11.
