One of the outstanding characters in the Bible is Abraham. He journeyed with his father and Nephew out of their native land to go to Canaan, but they settled at Haran for the mean time (Read Genesis 11:27-32). After the death of his father, Abraham realigned with God’s original plan for his life which he had discovered before leaving his land of nativity. He departed from Haran, in pursuit of the original plan, the land of Canaan. “Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee:” (Genesis 12:1).
Apparently, Abraham only tarried with his family in Haran, he did not abandon God’s original plan for his life. Thank God he proceeded on his journey to destiny and became a father of Nations.
As a student, it is possible to abandon your dreams of a great future because of the present challenges. Sometimes in career or ministry, we are forced to go for the available when the desirable is not available. This is not the way of achievers. World changers do not back down from the assignment that is worth pursuing.
Haran is not your final destination; it is only a connecting point to your Canaan. No matter the level of satisfaction or setback you may be experiencing at the moment, let it not debar you from pursuing your original dream in life. The barriers or temporary satisfactions are distractions to shift your attention away from your life long goal. Break that inertia that is trying to keep you down. True joy and fulfilment awaits you as you reach forth for the original plan of God for your life. Blessings!
