Before I finally gave my life to Christ on the day that I did, I have had several invitations and promptings in my spirit to do so before that time. At a point, my only consideration for postponing my salvation was my father. Then, my Dad would demand that I buy him cigarette and alcohol, but I had no courage to say no. I thought it was of no use giving my life to Christ when I would still continue to run such errands. Obviously, I had enough teachings at that time to know that God will not only judge those who practice unrighteousness, but also those who support their wrong doings (Rom 1:28).
Thanks be to God! I did not delay beyond September 4, 1997. That quiet evening, I heard the liberating gospel. I resisted the spirit that whispered to me about the situation back at home. I answered the alter call and invited Jesus into my life. Its almost 24 years now, I am waxing stronger
in my relationship with God and fulfilling the purpose for which He brought me into His kingdom.
Apostle Paul was a man who did not allow flesh and blood to hinder him from responding to God’s call to repentance and service. “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:” Galatians 1:15-16.
It is time to say no to whatever is hindering you from responding to the call to salvation. No matter how powerful that person may be, they are not as powerful as God. “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matt 10:28. For the gift of salvation to become yours, God needs your will to make it happen. Say yes to Jesus now!
